High Power Rifle Team

High Power, unlike small-bore rifle and pistol, is only fired outdoors.

High Power competitors shoot center fire rifles, usually 5.56mm of 7.62mm, at 200 yards slow fire standing-ten shots in ten minutes, and  rapid fire sitting, ten shots in 60 seconds. They then move to 300 yards where they shoot ten shots in 60 seconds prone after which the move one again to 600 yards and shoot 20 shots slow fire prone in 20 minutes.

High power competition revolves around NRA tournaments and builds to a crescendo at the National matches and the NRA Championship held at Camp Perry at the end of July.

Competitors who favor center fire prone may compete in F-Class or Palma competition which is prone only at long range.
